This is a story rooted in one of the most iconic places in the sporting world: Sitka, Alaska.

On Baranof Island, chasing steelhead is anything but casual. It is a grind. Long hikes. Empty water. Days, sometimes entire seasons, without a single grab. These fish demand patience, precision, and resilience. Nothing about earning one comes easy, and that is exactly the point.

This story follows local and commercial fisherman Woody Cyr, who has put in the years to truly understand these rivers, the runs, the tides, and the timing. His knowledge was not inherited. It was earned through relentless consistency when most would have stayed home.

As storytellers, we are drawn to that same mindset. Earn it. No shortcuts. No spectacle. Just the pursuit.
